Eagle Island Camp is situated in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Operated by Orient Express Safaris, Eagle Island Camp places particular emphasis on guest comfort.
Deep in the Okavango Delta on Xaxaba Island Eagle Island Camp was one of the first locations selected by the safari industry for a camp site in the early days of the photographic industry. The camp offers a variety of activities and guests can explore the area on local canoe, set out on a game drive or on foot.
Tents are built on raised wooden platforms and offer great views, and are shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The large decks have easy chairs and a hammock which are ideal for viewing wildlife, or indeed for enjoying a private dinner in complete privacy.
With such comforts as an en suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, four poster bed complete with mosquito netting, as well as a discreet air conditioning the tents provide excellent accommodation.
Activities are diverse and include walking safaris, canoe trips, motor boat excursions, game drives and helicopter trips. In addition guests can visit Xaxaba village and see a traditional village at work and play as local people have adapted ancient traditions to modern life. A number of traditional crafts are practiced including the manufacture of Botswana’s famous baskets.
