Eagle Island Lodge
NG 27B Concession, central Okavango Delta
Eagle Island Lodge is situated in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Operated by Belmond Safaris (previously Orient Express Safaris), this camp places particular emphasis on guest comfort. Eagle Island Lodge lies deep in the Okavango Delta on Xaxaba Island and occupies one of the first sites selected for photographic safaris.
Recently rebuilt, Eagle Island Lodge represents an incredible re-imagining fusing modern design with some of the most iconic aspects of a traditional safari camp. Known for their supremely comfortable lodges, Belmond Safaris have drawn on their considerable experience as a safari outfitter to craft tents with great attention and detail. The elegant main building continues in this line and the camp is sure to build on Belmond Safaris reputation.
The camp’s luxurious tents are built on raised wooden platforms offering incredible views over the floodplains from a cocoon of comfort. These incredible tents are shaded by traditional African thatch roofs which, in concert with discreet air conditioning, provide respite during the heat of the day. Expansive decks with private plunge pools provide the perfect space from which to watch the birds and animals of this unique ecosystem.
Diverse activities are on offer at Eagle Island Lodge and include walking safaris with professional guides allow guests to get closer to nature and appreciate the oft overlooked species of the delta. On the waters of the Okavango Delta canoe trips and motor boat excursions explore this fascinating environment. Additionally guests can visit Xaxaba village and see a traditional Okavango village at work and play, as local people adapt ancient traditions to modern life.
