Footsteps Across the Delta

Shinde Concession, eastern Okavango Delta

Footsteps Across the Delta allows guests to experience one of the great, untamed regions of Africa, the spectacular Okavango Delta.

With a real focus on the raw majesty of the Okavango Delta, this safari maintains the elegance and eccentricity of the original “under canvas African safari” with the emphasis on exploring this breathtakingly beautiful and diverse environment on foot as the first African explorers did. This is one of Africa’s preeminent walking safaris.

This comfortable and private Footsteps Across the Delta camp accommodates guests in three specially designed twin-bedded Meru tents, complete with sewn-in floors. Each tent has its own bucket shower and bush toilet which is attached to the back of the tent, and there is even a daily laundry service. The ‘bush kitchen’ is run by the chef who prepares menus to wet all appetites.

Walking in the wilderness is the highlight of a true safari experience. No special training is required as the focus is on exploration and discovery – tracking fresh spoor each morning to reveal the night’s events. Guests will be in the hands of the best professional guides whose first passion is to interpret and bring to life every aspect of the bush. During your stay other possible activities include game drives on the Shinde Concession and Mokoro or fishing trips, the availability of which vary throughout the year.

Shinde Concession

Deep in the Okavango Delta

The Shinde Concession, on the northern edge of the Okavango Delta, is the smallest concession in the delta. The concession is predominately permanent delta with two of the concession’s camps focusing on water based activities. The northern part of the concession borders the Kwara Concession and includes a good population of plains game.
