There are a number of camps and lodges in the delta which focus on the waters, aquatic life and spectacular birdlife of the Okavango Delta. Normally situated on permanent waters of the delta these camps offer walking safaris, mokoro exursions and motorboat excursions. These camps are often combined with land focused or multi-activity camps.

Camp Okavango

Shinde Concession, northern Okavango Delta
One of the classic water camps of the Okavango Delta, Camp Okavango will reopen in April 2016 following a comprehensive rebuild. Under dappled shade of the tree canopy of Nxaragha Island the camp’s raised units look out over the delta. Activities include walking safaris on nearby islands, mokoro excursions and motorboat excursions.

Eagle Island Lodge

NG 27B Concession, central Okavango Delta

Rebuilt in 2016, Eagle Island Lodge is one of the most luxurious in the delta. Situated on a private island this camp offers walking safaris and mokoro excursions with motorboats exploring the farther reaches of the concession. With the tents drawing inspiration from Botswana, look out for the distinctive copper hues and weaver bird nests incorporated into the designs.

Gunn’s Camp

With a main building accessed by a walkway over the Okavango Delta, Gunn’s Camp is the quintessential Okavango Delta safari property. Sharing a concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve with its sister property Moremi Crossing, this camp offers mokoro, walking and motorboat safaris.

Jacana Camp

Jao Concession, western Okavango Delta
Located deep within the Okavango Delta within the Jao Concession, a rich water wonderland, Jacana Camp focuses on the life givings waters of the delta. The concession is home to a wide variety of delta wildlife including red Lechwe and Pel’s fishing owl. Activities include mokoro and boating excursions with game drives offered when conditions allow, typically in the summer months.

Moremi Crossing

One of the larger camps in the Okavango Delta Moremi Crossing offers great value water based safaris to the delta. Situated on the original Gunn’s Camp site, Moremi Crossing offers fantastic views over the Moremi Game Reserves rich floodplains. The camp looks to minimise its ecological footprint with banks of solar panels and the latest waste disposal technology.

On a heart shaped island Pelo Camp is one of Wilderness Safaris’ Adventure Camps. Set among the beautiful ecosystem of the Jao Concession activities focus on the waters of the delta with mokoro and motorboat excursions exploring the waterways of the delta and nature walks the islands of the concession.
