Baines’ Camp

Overlooking a papyrus -lined river on a private concession bordering the Moremi, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is a luxury camp with a range of safari activities including an unique elephant interaction. Each spacious room offers expansive views over the Okavango and feature star bed extensions, offering the option to sleep under the stars. Baines' Camp offers guests an intimate, romantic safari experience with land and seasonal water actives.

Refurbished in 2019, Baines Camp is an intimate and upmarket camp, with just six tents, entirely interconnected by raised wooden walkways. The camp lies on the 1,300 square kilometre Stanley concession, a particularly pretty area with a beautiful chain of floodplains and classic Okavango Delta scenery. Land and seasonal water activities are offered here.

The camp’s communal areas include an oversized deck for outdoor, alfresco dining with views over the permanent waters of the lagoon. Indigenous handicrafts channel the energy and colours of Botswanan culture throughout the décor of Baines’ Camp. A spacious bar, where guests can help themselves to drinks, includes a new pizza oven. Expertly prepared meals abundant with African spices and flavours can be enjoyed in the Boma area.

Away from the main area, between two suites, lies a lovely rim-flow pool with a sundeck and loungers as well as two large, shady salas (day beds).

Baines’ offers the traditional land and seasonal water activities too. Both day and night 4WD safari drives are offered, which can go off-road to track game within the private concession.

Game drives may also traverse into the southern portion of the Moremi Game Reserve, onto Chief’s Island, however it is important to note that this is dependent on water levels at that specific time. Due to Baines Camp being situated on a private concession, night drives are available and are usually combined with the afternoon activity.

Walking Safaris are conducted within the concession. Boat excursions and mokoro trips are dependent on water levels too (determined by the flood level) and this may vary, not only seasonally but also from one year to the next. When the water levels are high enough to allow for these activities, this area becomes a bird lover’s paradise.
