Footsteps Across the Delta is Botswana’s leading walking safari specialist. The camp allows guests to experience the pristine wilderness of the Okavango Delta the most traditional way- on foot. Set on one of the Okavango’s finest private concessions Footsteps is unrestricted by park rules, offering a truly exclusive walking safari experience. This charming small camp offers a really authentic but always comfortable safari experience, with superb guiding.
The emphasis at Footsteps is always on exploring this breathtakingly beautiful and diverse environment on foot as the first African explorers did. Footsteps Across the Delta camp accommodates guests in three specially designed twin-bedded Meru tents, complete with sewn-in floors. Each tent has its own bucket shower and bush toilet which is attached to the back of the tent, and there is even a daily laundry service. The ‘bush kitchen’ is run by the chef who prepares menus to wet all appetites. A truly authentic safari, with everything you need and nothing you don’t!
Walking in the wilderness is the highlight of a true safari experience. No special training is required as the focus is on exploration and discovery – tracking fresh spoor each morning to reveal the night’s events. Guests will be in the hands of the best professional guides whose first passion is to interpret and bring to life every aspect of the bush.
During your stay other possible activities include game drives on the Shinde Concession and Mokoro or fishing trips, the availability of which vary throughout the year. The option for driving, boating and mokoro will depend on the interests of others in camp, priority will always be given to walking.
There is a minimum age of 16 years and a minimum stay of 3 nights at Footsteps Across the Delta. For families with younger children the camp can be taken exclusively and as Young Explorers.
At Okavango Delta Explorations we specialise in crafting safaris to this unique ecosystem.
