Splash camp is a smart tented camp on the prime private concession of Kwara, in the eastern Okavango Delta, a pretty and game lively concession. The area benefits from permanent water, seasonal floodplains and dry savannah bush and is home to good resident game which has earned Kwara the reputation for delivering some of the best game viewing in Botswana. A variety of safari activities and interesting game viewing deliver a fantastic all-round safari.
Splash camp is situated in the private Kwara concession in the northern Okavango Delta. The area is known as ‘Splash’ because of the extensive water crossings that need to be navigated in order to reach camp. The camp benefits from the permanent water, seasonal floodplains and dry savannah bush and the acknowledged excellent game and birdlife viewing that such varied habit of the Kwara concession brings.
Splash Camp opened in June 2018 and is an entirely new camp. It is decorated in a minimalist, contemporary style. The camp has ten tents plus two guide tents of the same standard which are positioned on a raised deck overlooking a pan and each has its own veranda from which guests can watch in seclusion the game that comes to water at the pan. Every room has an en suite with indoor and outdoor showers and the bathrooms have double basins.
Breakfast is served before early morning game drives at the camp’s fire pit, situated towards the pan, where guests may also sit around the fire in the evening. The thatched central area of camp has a plunge pool, bar, seating area and curio shop.
Splash enclave is a satellite area (although part of, not in addition to, the twelve rooms of Splash Camp) that can be booked for the exclusive use of a group of six to ten. There are no age restrictions when a group booking for Splash enclave is made, so it is perfect for a larger family group.
Day and night game drives are offered and game drives can go off road. Walking safaris are also available. Mokoro trips depend upon the water levels, as do and boat cruises which are able to visit heronries between August to December. Seasonal fishing is also available.
At Okavango Delta Explorations we specialise in crafting safaris to this unique ecosystem.
