Thamalakane River Lodge

Thamalakane River Lodge has a lovely setting on the river, just 20 kms from Maun, is a peaceful spot for an overnight before or after your safari. The Lodge truly embraces its riverside setting. Tranquil riverfront gardens are rich in succulents and a sculpted waterfall feature built into the bankside. With a range of comfortable room options, a restaurant and swimming pool, Thamalakane River Lodge is a good option for a night or two in Maun.

Thamalakane River Lodge is built to really embrace the river views, and one can watch hippos, crocs and a wonderful array of birds from the banks. The quirky 4 leaf clover-shaped pool with deck chairs and sun loungers is within easy reach of chalets and the central bar, lounge, dining and terrace area. Meals may be enjoyed in the restaurant, on the terrace or by the pool. A la carte and buffet options available to suit all tastes.

There are 27 rooms, river-rock inspired chalets made of cooling stone, offer respite from Maun’s generally warm weather. All overlook the river system, with wide-spread views to Delta-esque land beyond. All ensuite, some chalets boast a private splash pool for additional privacy.

There are 25 Babbler Chalets in Queen or twin configuration, suitable for two people. The bathroom consists of shower, handbasin and toilet. A cosy veranda offers a perfect place to enjoy a morning tea or coffee whilst watching for hippo or birds.

The Kingfisher Family Units feature two bedroom areas: one for the parents, complete with Kingsized bed and the children’s room with two twins. A communal bathroom for all to share as well as a private lounge and private decking area.

Thamalakane River Lodge lies 20kms from Maun on the eastern side towards Shorobe and Moremi Game Reserve, it is a convenient place to stay for all, particularly those wanting to go into the Reserve. Access is easy by tarred road, for all vehicles.

Activities from the lodge include Sunset river cruises and day cruises up the Boro River. There is also excellent bird-watching here. Other activities can also be arranged including day trips to the Moremi and Makgadikgadi Pans. Scenic flights can also be arranged.
