The River Club

Elegantly nestled within the tree line, The River Club sits high on the Zambezi river with views towards Victoria Falls. This colonial -styled sanctuary blends genuine Zambian hospitality with fascinating natural heritage and exciting adventure activities. Ideal for discerning travellers with a taste for distinct old-world luxury, The River Club offers panoramic views into the Zambezi National Park.

The River Club is an owner-run lodge, colonial – styled establishment based around a renovated 1940s’ farmhouse which now forms the main area of the lodge. The Zambezi House is made up of a sizeable lounge and library area with an impressive collection of books and photographs pertaining to Livingstone, its history and its colourful residents. Breakfast and tea are often served al Fresco on the veranda or on the landscaped lawns complete with croquet court with the summer house, the gazebo and the infinity poolside deck being alternative locations for private dining experiences.

With a magnificent view directly over the Zambezi River, the Club’s flow rim pool offers welcome respite from the midday heat.

For sports’ lovers, games and matches can be enjoyed on a big screen in the summer house complete with period furniture. A billiard table and chess set, available for your use, are reminiscent of entertainment activities enjoyed in times gone by. A gymnasium, running trails and an all-weather tennis court are available for the Clubs’ more energetic guests. A laptop with Wi-Fi is available, for those wishing to tune back into the 21st century.

Eleven secluded, air-conditioned River Suites offer uninterrupted views of the Zambezi River. Designed solely for comfort, each River Suite is split level and features a sitting area with spectacular views over the river through full length glass doors, which open onto a private balcony. The rooms are open plan and tastefully decorated with furniture and fittings made from beautiful Zambezi teak wood.

Two luxury River suites impress with their secluded private decks and sparkling plunge pools. The spacious luxury family suite is made up of two semi-private, en-suite bedrooms (with two bathrooms) Other in-room facilities include a safe, hairdryer, mini bar fridge with bottled water and soft drinks, fan and mosquito nets.

The Princess Mary suite, accommodating 2-6 guests, is a luxurious double story villa with its own secluded garden and private pool and is ideal for families or groups of friends seeking privacy and a more intimate experience.

Late afternoon sunset safaris up the river complete with delicious snacks and sundowner drinks bring with them delightful sightings of hippo crocodile and elephant .Rarely seen Schalow’s Loerie and the African Finfoot attract bird lovers from all over the world and during June and September (and early mornings in November) one can take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a spot of fishing with refreshments included (only available on full package.)

A natural synergy between lodge and local community makes for special memories.

Younger guests to The River Club are gifted with an adventure bag on arrival which includes outdoor games, activities and tips on exploring the surrounding area.

With easy access to both Livingstone Town and Victoria Falls, one is easily able to organise day trips and various activities exclusive to the Victoria Falls area from the River Club itself.

The owner of The River Club, Mr. Peter Jones, is passionate about the history of Zambia’s small Jewish community and as such has ensured that The River Club offers an opportunity for those seeking to visit the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls, while remaining observant. For this reason, two fully – equipped Kosher Kitchens on site offer cuisine and culinary options to Jewish Guests. Please enquire for further information on these facilities.
