The Silo

The Silo is a historic grain silo, unbelievably, the platform for this five star hotel based in the heart of the Cape Town Waterfront. Contained within the upper six storeys of the silo, the industrial architecture is a sophisticated masterpiece based on abstraction –clean lines, basic geometric shapes and liner elements. More wonders lie below at the Zeitz MOCAA Art Museum. With stunning rooms, a superb restaurant, beautiful bar, spa, swimming pool this is an outstanding hotel.

For over 80 years The Silo was invaluable to South Africa’s regional agricultural economy, now it showcases some of Africa’s finest modern art and is home to one of Africa’s top luxury hotels.

Guest accommodation at The Silo is represented in the form of four Silo rooms and four luxury rooms with spectacular harbour views and private balconies. Six superior suites with mezzanine -level bedrooms and seven deluxe superior suites with high pillowed glass windows all boast magnificent, spacious en- suite bathrooms with an array of amenities that leaves nothing more to be desired.

Families are well suited to the four spacious two -bedroomed family suites that look out towards the distant mountains and two Royal suites complete with opulent décor and extended balconies invite one to look out over the serene Atlantic Ocean lying before them.

A one-bedroom penthouse with its own cinema room, spa treatment room and a main bedroom with two walk- in wardrobes and two marble bathrooms is the quintessential luxury stay to be experienced in Cape Town.

The Hotel Interior showcases a contemporary style, much like the leading -edge menu selection available at the Granary Café. Attention to detail is evident in this extravagant space as gracious staff host breakfasts, lunches, dinner and a Royal Tea to write home about.

The Silo hotel encompasses an extravagant spa facility with five treatment rooms offering indulgent treatments and massages, a swimming pool, a library, gym facilities and Wi-Fi connectivity.

At ground level lies the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), and in keeping with this the Silo Hotel itself only shows contemporary African artworks created from the year 2000 onwards by many young Cape Town artists themselves. As a result, Forbes has listed this property as one of the most recognised best ‘’Art Hotels’’ in the world. Private art tours can be arranged for guests with a keen interest to learn about the artists behind the varied masterpieces and occasionally these tours present opportunities to meet the artists themselves.

Aptly named after the first ship to export grain from the silo back in 1924, Willason Bar located at the Silo Hotel has a view to die for over the beautiful Mother City .A delectable list of local and international wines complement the eclectic meals on offer – everything from Morning Tea with fresh scones and cream to plated raw Carpaccio to local classic dishes and fragrant spicy curry dishes.
