Machaba Safaris Camps In the Okavango Delta

Machaba Safaris is a small owner run safari outfit offering classic luxury tented safaris in Botswana and Zimbabwe. With three very good camps in the Okavango and one boutique lodge in Chobe, Machaba Safaris offers a classic safari experience with a perfect blend of the authenticity and luxury.

The three camps in the Okavango include Machaba Camp and Little Machaba Camp in Khwai and Gomoti Plains Camp, Gomoti Private and Kiri Camp set on a private concession (NG32) in the southern Okavango. All these camps are well located with excellent year-round game viewing opportunities, though the Gomoti Camps and Kiri camp offer a more exclusive experience. The camps are thoughtfully designed, simply but extremely stylish and always strive too keep the connection with the natural environment in which they are set.

The camps have a strong eco-friendly focus and are notable for their owner run attention to detail. Guests are encouraged to take a back-of-house tour of the camp to understand the considerable eco efforts the owners have made to mitigate any environmental impact with a number of sophisticated systems.

The latest edition to the Botswana portfolio is Ngoma Safari Lodge which was acquired in 2020. This is a boutique luxury lodge set on the quieter western side of Chobe Riverfront, offering a more exclusive Chobe safari. It is a smart, well equipped lodge with excellent views of the plains.

Established in 2012 by Alistair Rankin, Chris Hatshe and Murray Collins with the opening of the original Machaba Camp, the collection has grown to include Little Machaba, Gomoti Plains, Kiri Camp, Ngoma Safari Lodge. In Zimbabwe the collection includes Verney’s Camp in Hwange and Ingwe in Mana Pools.
