Following an extensive rebuild Belmond Safaris’ Eagle Island Lodge was reopened on 22th November 2015.

This incredible re-imagining of one of the oldest and best known camps in the Okavango Delta has fused modern design with some of the most iconic aspects of a traditional safari camp. Known for their supremely comfortable lodges, Belmond Safaris have drawn on their considerable experience as a safari outfitter to craft tents with great attention and detail. The elegant main building continues in this line and the camp is sure to build on Belmond Safaris reputation.

Chief's Camp – Refurbishment

Sanctuary Retreats have announced a major refurbishment of Chief’s Camp. The refurbishment will focus on the accommodation and be conducted between 9th January and 31st May 2016, during which period the camp will be closed.

This major investment will see the 12 pavilions being completely rebuilt, increasing in size from 51 m2 to 141 m2. Furnished with handmade furniture and cooled by both air conditioning and fans, these new pavilions will focus guests on the magnificent Okavango Delta with plunge pools and private dining areas overlooking the delta’s flood plains. In the same way new bathrooms will include spacious outdoor showers, a large bath tubs and beautiful floor to ceiling windows with folding glass doors.

Along with the accommodation, public areas will be refurbished in the ‘Safari Chic’ style with a completely redesigned bar and library area. There will be extensions to the dining room along with a new pizza deck complete with pizza oven. Guests will be able to learn more about the unique Okavango Delta in an orientation room. A children’s play area and gym will also be added.

Chief’s Camp is situate in the renowned Mombo Concession on Chief’s island, an area known as the ‘predator capital of Africa’.

Belmond Safaris has announced the reopening of Eagle Island Lodge following a comprehensive refurbishment.

Each of the lodge’s spacious Deluxe Tented Rooms boasts its own plunge pool. A private deck provides the perfect space to soak up the scenery.

Flooded with daylight, the interior décor is elegant and light. The centrepiece of every room is an oversized bed with views of the delta. The uniquely designed, handmade copper-finish headboards reference Botswana’s mining tradition.

In-room amenities include a deep day bed, large desk, fully-stocked mini bar and discreet air conditioning. An en-suite bathroom features a walled outdoor shower with a window looking onto the delta, a large indoor bathtub and walk-in wardrobe.

Desert & Delta Safaris have announced that Camp Okavango will be completely rebuilt, reopening on 14 April 2016. The rebuilt camp will comprise 11 standard suites and a family suite.

Camp Okavango has a rich history dating back over 35 years and Desert & Delta Safaris will draw from this history in constructing a camp which is sensitive to the environment and ensures the best possible guest experience. The design for the new camp blends timber and canvas creating a raised suite which is naturally ventilated.

Public areas will offer expansive views of the Okavango Delta and will be connected to the suites by raised walkways.
