Day by Day Itinerary
On the banks of Zambezi River, Toka Leya Camp is situated twelve kilometres upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls. This prime location allows guests to explore the Victoria Falls, game drives, river cruises, catch-and-release fishing, guided walks and adventure activities, whilst being accommodated in a national park and surrounded by buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala and white rhino as well as prolific bird life including the resident African finfoot.

The camp itself comprises twelve expansive safari style suites with extensive decks overlooking the river. Guest areas, shaded by the riverine forest, include an infinity pool.

Within the huge Linyanti Concession bordering the Chobe National Park, this Wilderness Explorations camp is a perfect base from which to venture into this diverse and game rich area. The Linyanti Concession is remote, bordered the Linyanti River and Savute Channel and provides diverse habitat including woodland, dry-land savanna and floodplains. These habitats are explored on game drives including a full day safari.

Species encountered in the concession include the reclusive, and seldom seen, sitatunga, rare roan and sable antelope amongst other plains game and predators including lion and leopard and the endangered African wild dog.

Eight airy tents provide comfortable and atmospheric safari accommodation. The main guest areas of the camp are raised and look out over the Linyanti River, providing a perfect setting for relaxing around the fire at night surrounded by the sounds of the African night.

In the south east corner of the Okavango Delta the private Santawani Concession is home to our next Wilderness Explorations’ camp. Nestled in the shade of iconic acacia trees Gomoti Tented Camp is located in the centre of the concession and provides access to mixed woodland and open grasslands rich in wildlife including leopard, lion, wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, elephant and plentiful general game. This is a land based camp and guests explore the concession on day and night game drives as well as game walks.

The five comfortable savannah tents capture the spirit of the early explorers whilst providing modern amenities including a private, en-suite toilet and shower. Lighting is by 12 volt reading lights.

Our final camp is Xigera Camp one of Wilderness Safaris’ classic camps and situated within the riverine forest of ‘Paradise Island’. The island is surrounded by water for much of the year and activities at Xigera typically include mokoro and motorboat outings. Game drives are dependent on the water levels and offered seasonally, but the focus here is the unique Okavango Delta. Species commonly seen here include red lechwe, spotted-necked otter and the elusive sitatunga. Predators include leopard and spotted hyaena. Birdlife is prolific and includes Pel’s fishing-owl, African skimmer, greater swamp warbler and wattled crane.

Xigera Camp is totally solar powered and the nine tented rooms and guest areas overlook a seasonal floodplain and small lagoon surrounded by the spectacular wilderness of the delta.
