Ten Night Great Wilderness Journey
From the thundering Victoria Falls to the peace and tranquillity of Botswana’s great open spaces: the unique blue-green wetlands of the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Chobe, areas renowned for their predators and large concentrations of game.
Wilderness Safaris’ guides have an incredible understanding of this environment and will provide a consistent interpretation of the natural world as well as the history and culture of this last remaining bastion of the natural world. Many of them are skilled photographers allowing you to perfect your wildlife photography and create lasting memories of your trip.
With walks, day and night wildlife viewing both by water land-based the activities on this safari are extensive and the water, land and air transfers between locations are tailored to ensure that you gain a real understanding of the geography of this unique region. Safaris take place in exclusive concessions.
You will stay in a combination of Wilderness Safaris’ classic and tented camps. The tented camps are atmospheric with their elegant simplicity creating the feeling of pure, authentic, safari travel.
Day by Day Itinerary
The camp itself comprises twelve expansive safari style suites with extensive decks overlooking the river. Guest areas, shaded by the riverine forest, include an infinity pool.
Species encountered in the concession include the reclusive, and seldom seen, sitatunga, rare roan and sable antelope amongst other plains game and predators including lion and leopard and the endangered African wild dog.
Eight airy tents provide comfortable and atmospheric safari accommodation. The main guest areas of the camp are raised and look out over the Linyanti River, providing a perfect setting for relaxing around the fire at night surrounded by the sounds of the African night.
The five comfortable savannah tents capture the spirit of the early explorers whilst providing modern amenities including a private, en-suite toilet and shower. Lighting is by 12 volt reading lights.
Xigera Camp is totally solar powered and the nine tented rooms and guest areas overlook a seasonal floodplain and small lagoon surrounded by the spectacular wilderness of the delta.
