Nine Night Northern Highlights Mobile Safari
This excellent mobile safari is operated by Letaka Safaris. Conducted over nine nights the Northern Highlights safari is a fantastic way to explore the wilds of northern Botswana and includes the Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai, Savute and the Chobe riverfront.
Departing from both Maun and Kasane this superb fully serviced mobile safari explores the Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Community Concession and both the Savute and Chobe riverfront areas of the Chobe National Park.
Operated by the leaders in scheduled departure mobile safaris, Letaka Safaris, this safari combines comfortable accommodation with the company’s experienced and highly regarded guides.
With three nights spent in the Xakanaxa region of the Moremi Game Reserve, guests can expect to see herds of elephant, buffalo and lechwe along with the accompanying predators.
The Khwai Community Concession allows for more flexible activities including night drives and game walks. The concession is home to good populations of lion and leopard as well as cheetah and African wild dog.
Breaking the great flat expanse of northern Botswana the volcanic hills of the Savute region of the Chobe National Park provide a focal point for wildlife which is drawn to the rich grasslands of the Savute marsh. The area’s large lion herds have been known to hunt elephant.
This safari concludes on the waters of the Chobe River from where the floodplain’s enormous herds of elephant and buffalo congregate.
The safari can be combined with either a pre or post safari stay in Victoria Falls.

Day by Day Itinerary
You will explore the Xakanaxa region by vehicle on morning and afternoon game drives. The area has a variety of habitats, from vast open floodplains to thick mopane scrub and the area is home to a resident herd of buffalo as well as well as prides of lion. It is also one of the best places in Africa to see the highly endangered African wild dog.
Other species commonly seen include lechwe and hippopotamus as well as an excellent selection of birds.
The Khwai Concession provides fantastic game drives, both by day and night, and you will also have the opportunity to explore the area on foot and in the traditional mokoro (canoe). Night game drives with spotlights provide a glimpse into the delta’s nocturnal world.
The area is home to excellent populations of elephant, lion, leopard, serval and African wild cat. The area supports seasonal herds of buffalo after the summer rain.
The central region of the Chobe features several large volcanic outcrops providing habitat for a wide variety of wildlife with the Savute marsh home to herds of ungulates accompanied by large and powerful prides of lions and hyena clans. The area has become increasingly well known as the scene of some of the most dramatic wildlife documentaries of the past five years.
Once again you will be accommodated in a Letaka Tented Camp.
