Three Night Delta Explorer Tented Safari
This tented safari is a great way to explore the Okavango Delta and is designed to connect to the six night Miracle Rivers Mobile Safari
This safari offers an introduction to the Okavango Delta and can be combined with the longer Miracle Rivers safari to provide a more complete delta experience. Departing from Maun guests are transported by helicopter to Letaka Safaris’ fully serviced tented camp on the Boro River in the Moremi Game Reserve. Guests explore the area both by boat and on foot.
Operated by the leaders in scheduled departure mobile safaris, Letaka Safaris, this safari combines comfortable accommodation with the company’s experienced and highly regarded guides.
Optional extension include the Miracle Rivers Mobile Safari as well as both an extended scenic 30 minute helicopter flight into the delta and a helicopter flight back to Maun.
Day by Day Itinerary
The Letaka Tented Camp is situated on the banks of the Boro River in the Moremi Game Reserve and during your safari you will explore this incredible environment both by boat and by foot. Today you will explore the area by boat and might see smaller game as well as expecting to see a variety of birdlife including raptors in the riparian fringe (African fish eagle, Gabar goshawk, Shikra, Little sparrowhawk and Tawny eagle), other birds common along this route include most of Botswana’s hornbills including Red-billed, Southern Yellow-billed, African Grey, Bradfield’s and the Southern ground hornbills. A large number of other species are also present including water birds such as the African jacana, Lesser jacana, Pygmy goose, Little Bittern And a variety of Lapwing species.
You can expect to see Red lechwe and impala alongside the river with large herds of buffalo moving through the area. These herds are often accompanied by prides of lion. Elephant and hippopotamus are often seen next to or in the waterways. The area is rich in birdlife with African Rail, Coppery-tailed Coucal, Black Coucal*, Red-chested Flufftail, African Crake, Black Crake, Chirping Cisticola, Luapula Cisticola, Purple Swamphen, Allen’s Gallinule to name but a few. The open waters attract African Skimmer, Saddle-billed Stork, Yellow-billed Stork, Intermediate Egret, Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle as well as the globally threatened Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane seen.

LETAKA SAFARIS SERVICE LEVELS
Fully Serviced Tented Safari
Letaka Safaris use tried and tested walk-in wilderness tents (3 x 4m). These tents have a separate en-suite bathroom with long drop facilities and bucket showers, with water heated to order. Each tent has a veranda to the front.
Tents are lit with oil or paraffin lamps on the veranda and bathroom, but for safety an LED rechargeable light is provided in the tent.
