Jao Camp is set in an area where islands fringed with riverine forests meet vast productive floodplains. The beautifully designed tents, excellent wine cellar and award-winning spa are just some of the touch points that have given Jao the reputation for true indulgence and relaxation. The camp itself perfectly mirrors the beauty of the Delta and allows an effortless entry into the wonders of this pristine wetland paradise.
Not for nothing is Mombo known as “the place of plenty.” Situated at the northern tip of Chief’s Island, the largest landmass in the Okavango, the camp’s elegant design and spacious, luxurious tents complements its magnificent surroundings. The game viewing here is nothing short of exceptional with abundant plains game and predators never far away, from leopard and spotted hyaena to large prides of lion.
Imparting an air of opulence amid the bush setting, the light, airy villas of Abu Camp echo the curved, grey hides of the Abu Herd: a unique group of pachyderms that you are invited to interact with, seeing the splendid world of the Okavango through their eyes. Over and above the camp elephants, the area hosts other wildlife, from herds of lechwe, zebra, giraffe, tsessebe and even the rare roan antelope, to spotted hyaena and leopard.
