Set within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Toka Leya Camp is one of the best safari style accommodation options in the area, a stylish sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the falls, with an excellent range of safari and adventure activities. Upstream from Victoria Falls on the banks of the Zambezi River lies Toka Leya – a luxurious safari camp named in tribute to the indigenous inhabitants that once lived here.

Early morning river expeditions at Toka Leya Camp showcase pods of grunting hippo and sun- loving crocodiles basking on the riverbank. Tick one off your bucket list as you track rhino in the company of professional game scouts followed by a sunset cruise along the Zambezi River revealing scenic landscapes and exciting wildlife from the comfort of a spacious boat.

Toka Leya’s twelve spacious, luxury safari-style tents (including three family tents) with expansive natural wooden decks complete with sunken seating areas have been designed to limit human interference on the surrounding natural environment. All tents are linked by wooden walkways. Modern and stylish, the tented rooms are air conditioned and furnished with natural-style décor and crisp white linen. Wicker armchairs, comfortable sun loungers and Persian style rugs create a unique atmosphere in each. Beautifully built en – suite bathrooms are separated from the bedroom by a wood-tiled wall and display both indoor and outdoor showers and twin basins.

Situated under the shade of a canopy of trees, the canvas covered open plan dining, bar and lounge areas, open on all sides, are complemented by an inviting infinity pool. Modern earthy tones in the lounge area are set off by African artefacts and teak floors. To the side of the dark wood dining room is the camp’s popular pizza over. A welcoming bar area and veranda provide ideals spots to relax Delectable meals are served up on the sundeck and in the evenings, guests gather around the genial fireplace to relate their adventures and explorations of the day.

Toka Leya Camp offers Game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where one can expect sightings of general game species such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe and white rhino. There is also rich birdlife, including sought-after species such as half-collared kingfisher and Schalow’s turaco.

Rhino tracking under the guidance of experienced rangers is a must-do activity (additional park fees apply), bringing safari goers into close range with these majestic animals. Adults over the age of 13 years have the opportunity to explore Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on foot when walking guides are available. Enthusiastic fishermen can take advantage of the opportunity to fish for bream and Tiger fish during the warmer season. (Additional park fee applicable).

Cultural visits to nearby villages and schools can be arranged for guests wanting to experience the local life and culture of this part of Zambia. Two spa treatment rooms are perched at the water’s edge and an air-conditioned gym facility is located nearby.
